Early in development, the Loud family was originally going to be a family of rabbits, and instead of 11 children, there were going to be 26, a reference to the fact that rabbits can reproduce so quickly. She's a tomboy who is very tough and enjoys skateboarding, playing video games, and pranks. She wears a purple sweatshirt, jean shorts, a white tank top, purple shoes and pink socks.

Leni is named after the character Lennie Small, a mentally-challenged but compassionate and physically strong and curious companion of George Milton in John Steinbeck's novella Of Mice and Men.
